Anne-Claire Schmitz, director of La Loge, will leave the institution in July 2019 following a directorship of seven years. During her mandate, she has created a rich and diverse programme of more than thirty exhibitions, performances and discursive events, which have established a strong national and international reputation for the institution.

La Loge serves as a platform for the production and presentation of projects by artists, architects, designers and theorists whose work enters into unexpected dialogue. It was founded in 2012 by Belgian architect and patron Philippe Rotthier as a new space to foster dialogue and experimentation within the field of art, architecture and theory, aimed at contributing to the Brussels’ and international art scene. Entrusted with the mission to propose a coherent vision for the institution, Anne-Claire Schmitz has devoted herself to bringing La Loge to a mature phase, overseeing the development of its institutional infrastructure, public and private fundraising, local and international partnerships and a high-quality programme. In this journey, she has been accompanied by many dedicated collaborators, and the board wishes to take this opportunity to thank them and Anne-Claire Schmitz for all their work.

La Loge anticipates an exciting future with new projects and the consolidation of its local and international scope. The board looks forward to further developing the institution’s commitment to a diverse group of cultural practitioners and theorists who critically reflect on architectural, ecological, societal and ethical concerns in line with the spirit of its founder. While La Loge continues to nourish and celebrate the intimate relationship with its various publics, friends, peers and colleagues, and the sustained engagement of its public and private supporters, it looks forward to welcoming new voices and energies. The aim is to construct a conscious institution that raises challenging questions about how to inhabit the world of tomorrow. With this in view, a call for a new director will be made in June.
