Architecture, Art & Environment

La Loge was founded in 2012 by architect and patron of the arts Philippe Rotthier.

Having been led by Anne-Claire Schmitz since its foundation, La Loge will now continue its development from January 2020 with a new team and in a new direction, according to the following statements of intent:

1. La Loge is a place dedicated to art, architecture, and contemporary creativity in general. It pursues this through a programme of coherent and precise projects that address current societal and cultural issues.
2. Its activities are underpinned by ethical, critical, and speculative reflections on the habitability of the world. It engages with research in both the sciences and humanities, and draws on both archaic knowledge and new technologies.
3. Each project is custom-made according to specific timeframes and formats: exhibition, conference, performance, publication, projection, residency, etc.
4. La Loge’s identity emanates from the heritage of the building that houses it. It is a space of intimacy that allows for direct dialogue with its audience and its stakeholders.
5. La Loge takes part in the cultural dynamics of Brussels, the capital of Belgium and Europe. It is concerned with intersecting and diversifying its audience, both in disciplinary terms and demographically.
6. It develops many partnerships, within and outside its walls, with any association or institution that shares these objectives.
7. In the spirit of its founder, La Loge is a place for reflection and observation of all forms of contemporary vernacular practices and urban re-organisation. It hosts the Philippe Rotthier Triennial Prize for Architecture, the next award of which is scheduled for 2020.
